What is SNAP Maths?

SNAP Maths is a digital diagnostic tool that identifies specific barriers to maths learning, including maths learning difficulties and maths anxiety.

The online diagnostic tool helps teachers identify the specific needs that learners may have, whether that be issues with number sense, cognitive skills related to maths, or maths anxiety.  

Once the tool determines what is impacting a student, it provides teachers with strategies to support learners.

SNAP Maths assesses both numerical and cognitive skills including counting, number relations, processing speed and non-numerical ordering.

Assess – Plan – Do -  Review

SNAP Maths is built around the Assess - Plan - Do - Review model as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice (2014).

• Assess - Identify learners who are showing signs of maths learning difficulties/dyscalculia through 10 on-screen activities.Three questionnaires (Pupil, Parent/Carer and Teacher) help to further build a holistic picture of a learner’s maths ability, including their emotional response to maths, to identify possible maths anxiety.
• Plan - Generate a Core Profile and a Questionnaire Profile of to assess  learners’ strengths and weaknesses.
• Do - Assign Fluency Boosters (short on-screen practice sessions) and/or choose from a large bank of tailored school strategies.
• Review - Monitor progress, including attitudes and emotional response to maths, by re-assigning the questionnaires, or track progress using the Fluency Booster graphs, if assigned.
